Systemic Therapy

You are not an island

Wellbeing for everyone

Our own psychological wellbeing is intimately connected with the health of our broader family and social systems as a whole. At Willow, our therapists consider the entire system, and understand that you are not an island! We will work together to help you gain understanding and acceptance of yourself and those around you — to become more authentic versions of yourselves safely and fully.

Systemic Therapists

The Willow team is made up exclusively of trained systems therapists who will work with you as a team, not merely treat individual “problems” or provide short-term “solutions.” Together, you will learn to strengthen your relationships in all areas of your life, whether you show up to therapy alone or with others.

Neurodiversity Affirming

At Willow, we strive for empowerment and authenticity, honoring each person within the family for who they are, not training them to be who everyone else wants them to be.

Our systemic therapists use a team approach to help you achieve your authentic goals, not conform to the goals of others. We understand that true affirming work honors the unique self.

FAQ

What is Systemic Therapy?

Systemic Therapy approaches mental health as the relationships *between* individuals, rather than looking at each person as an island. In a systems approach, behaviors are considered the product of the whole system (e.g., couple, family, society) rather than solely the individual’s “mental health.”

What are Systemic Therapists?

Systemic Therapists receive specialized training in psychology based in systems theory – the idea that humans are not isolated creatures, but rather exist as part of their families and society. At Willow Family Health we employ Marriage & Family Therapy Trainees from deeply systemic training programs who receive direct supervision from Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists that are also AAMFT Approved Supervisors — the most prestigious supervision designation available in the United States!

How long does Family Therapy last?

This is a very individual process, and each family will be different. During your initial therapy visit your therapist will review with you the goals and expectations of therapy, providing you with an expected time frame as well as total expected costs so that there are no surprises. In some cases you and your therapist may decide to change the length of therapy; if this happens, your therapist will provide you with an updated agreement.

What does Family Therapy with Willow Family Health Cost?

Our full fee for family therapy is $100/session. However, as part of our mission to deliver affordable systemic therapy services to everyone in need, we have a number of financial aid packages available due to the generous support of our donors. If you require a lower fee, simply discuss this in advance with your therapist during your initital phone consultation!
